Jacobus Thiele

Drummer and percussionist Jacobus Thiele is from Braunschweig, Germany. He has played the drumset since the age of 11 in different styles, starting from rock and pop, until jazz became one of his main focuses at the age of 20.

In his mid twenties he got interested in percussion and the various styles that where connected to them like Afro-Cuban & Brazilian music and music from Arabic and Balkan Regions. He has been touring in Europe with his Balkan, Klezmer, Folk band A Glezele Vayn for the last 5 years, while continuing his development in other fields, and getting involved in projects ranging from Jazz and D’n’B to Contemporary Music and collaborations with actors and dancers.

Since 2010 he studies world percussion at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam with his main focus on Arabic percussion, Brazilian percussion and percussion set-up.
