Alvaro Rovira Ruiz

Alvaro Rovira Ruiz (born 10 november 1978 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) studied guitar Jazz and Argentinian music in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Escuela de Música Contemporánea (E.M.C.-Berklee Internacional Network) between 1999 and 2001. Next he studied “Tango Guitar” with the Master Hugo Romero and Classical guitar technique with Liliana Ardizonne.

Until 2006, he lived in Buenos Aires performing tango and other popular music styles. Between 2004 and 2005 he played guitar in the tango quartet “Tango Desatado” recording a CD and performing two tours through Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Netherland. In 2005 and 2006, he directed Latin American and Tango guitar workshops at the “Musik Hoch Schule” Muenster, Germany. In this period he also performed solo guitar concerts and with the tango trio Matecito at different tango clubs and places of cultural interest in Germany.

In the year 2006 starts studies of Latin Jazz and Brazilian guitar at the Rotterdam Conservatory graduating in June 2010. He since performs in many tango projects as well as with Brazilian music and Latin American folklore.
