Ciconia – in honor of, inspired by and based upon early European polyphony from the centuries before widespread cultural censorship

Ciconia is a proportion-canon with three layers of rhythm and tempo. The work is based upon the proportion-canon “Le Ray au Soleil” composed by Johannes Ciconia (1370-1412). The transcription was made from the original manuscript and composed/arranged for the Olduvai Ensemble in 1984/2011.
